An obsolete red tint five dollar banknote from the Central Bank of Virginia issued on the eve of the Civil War in 1860 from Staunton VA. This banknote from the Commonwealth is loaded with vignettes, in the lower left corner is one of men herding cattle. At the top on the left is w woman holding a dove and beside her is Ceres setting on a plow and holding a sheaf of grain. On the right side is a cherub at the top and a train at the bottom. Somehow the American Bank Note company still found room for red 5 protectors throughout the bill. The condition of this obsolete banknote is fine with a plain back, it has the added bonus of a low 2 digit serial number of 95, the date is April 02, 1860.
