Virginia Obsolete Currency Bank of VA at Charleston One Dollar
SKU: VA Charleston 1 dollar 6668
A one dollar obsolete banknote from the Bank of Virginia at the Charleston Branch, which was in the rugged western section of the state which is now WV. Currency from the vast mountainous area of western Virginia is not very common. The Commonwealth was split with its loyalties during the Civil War with the sparsely populated western section splitting off from the mother state and siding with the Union. The date of this Confederate bank bill is December 01, 1861 and will grade Fine with a couple brown aging spots. The back is plain and is commensurate with the condition. The picture shows the actual West Virginia Confederate Money that is for sale at Brandywine General Store.
