Van Gogh Vincent - Vase With Gladioli and Chinese Asters Print
A Museum Quality Reproduction Print of Chinese Asters and Gladiolis painted by Van Gogh in 1886. During the year of 1886, while Van Gogh was in Paris he painted many still life artworks of flowers including this one. This new subject matter of flowers gave Van Gogh the chance to experiment freely with brighter colors and looser brush strokes. He applied the paints very thickly to this canvas. In October of 1886, Van Gogh writes to a colleague explaining why he was painting flowers "I have lacked money for paying models, else I had entirely given myself to figure painting, but I have made a series of color studies in painting simply flowers." The original size of this oil on canvas is 18.3 by 15.2 inches in size and now resides at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
