A rare Five Dollar obsolete banknote issued by the Merchant's Bank of South Carolina from their banking house in Cheraw SC in 1849. In the center vignette is a female with staff setting beside a Patriotic shield, on the left is a portrait of General Sumter and on the right is General Greene. A scarce piece of South Carolina money in the last reference book it was estimated only between 5 to 15 of these antique bills still exist. The condition is fine and the back is plain with the serial number of 366. The picture shows the actual South Carolina obsolete currency that is for sale at Brandywine General Store.
