Pennsylvania Obsolete Currency North Western Bank 1861
A one dollar banknote from Warren Pennsylvania on the North Western Bank. This bill was issued on August 1, 1861 at the beginning of the Civil War. The center vignette shows a herd of cattle in the foreground and a steam locomotive in the background. At the right is a basket full of produce with ears of corn laying around. This note circulated heavily during the Civil War and as such it will only grade very good with a couple tears on the edges. The picture shows the actual Pennsylvania obsolete currency that is for sale at Brandywine General Store.
