He was born on May 14, 1860 and died at the age of 79 in 1939. He received his training at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts. Bruno was fascinated by the patterns to be found in nature and often made art out of camouflage patterns of animals and birds. He is held in high esteem by painters of wildlife and he has been an influence on many wildlife painters including the American Wildlife artist, Bob Kuhn. Liljefors was a hunter and he often painted predatory action with hunts between fox and hare, sea eagle and eider and goshawk against the black grouse are prime examples of his predatory paintings. In this artwork the red fox also looks like he is on the hunt of prey.
