An over 200 year old Kentucky Insurance Company ten dollar banknote that was issued from Lexington Kentucky on January 14, 1814 and grading fine. The Kentucky Insurance Company was chartered in December 1802 and as such was the first banking institution west of the Allegheny Mountains. Written on the back is filed August 13th, 1819 by county clerk. This very old obsolete currency states that The president and directors for the Kentucky Insurance Company promise to pay J. Oliver or bearer on demand ten dollars. The back of this obsolete KY banknote is plain and shows wear commensurate with the condition, all in all, a great note for over 2 centuries old.
