A Museum Quality Art Print of Kanawha River Homes Across from the WV State Capitol. When the West Virginia state capitol building was constructed in Charleston approximately 60 lots and homes were purchased. Instead of destroying all the homes, an enterprising real estate company bought some of these homes and used barges to transport them across the large Kanawha River. Then when on the other side they were put on their new foundations and thus saved from demolition. Several of these homes still stand across the Kanawha. Cass Gilbert was believed to have said that these homes suited the look for across the river from the Capitol building. A speedboat is speeding down the center of the Kanawha River in this print.
