Hunter, Clementine - Baptism from Africa House Mural Art Print
A Museum Quality Art Print of a Baptism by Clementine Hunter from the Africa House Mural. The folk artist was commissioned by the Plantation owner to paint these murals in 1955. This is the section that is entitled Baptism. The composition shows the Preacher and the person he is baptizing in the center of the Cane River, another man is swimming and two others are fishing up stream from the baptism. A long line of people are walking from the Church down to the river to watch the proceedings, several people are already lined up along the river bank watching the Preacher perform the baptism. For some reason there are 3 people on the opposite side looking away from the baptism and a man is ringing the Church Bell. This is in more modern times as two cars are parked at the edge of the river. Please be aware that this is taken from the mural itself and as such does show flaws. These flaws can't be taken out of this image, however if you are a Hunter fan, you should still like this print.
