A Museum Quality Print of A Portrait of Madame Josette Gris by Juan Gris. The artist finished this oil on board in October of 1916. The size of the original artwork is 116 by 73 centimeters and now hangs in the Prado Museum in Madrid, Spain after being donated to this institution by the Cubist Historian Douglas Cooper. Madame Josette was the partner of Juan, she is setting in a chair in front of a wall of which the lower part is wood paneling. The shadow she casts is used to give the sensation of depth while her hands are laying draped on her knees. This portrait could easily be the cross between the combined influences of both Corot and Cezanne.
