Georgia Obsolete Currency Mechanics Savings Bank Five Dollar banknote
A five dollar bank note from the Mechanic's Savings Bank, this obsolete money was issued during the middle part of the Civil War era on July 6, 1863 from Atlanta, Georgia. This note has a good bit of wear and some minor edge roughness, which is all outside the frame line, however it still has a nice red overprint, which makes the bill attractive for the grade of fine. The terms were as follows: This certifies that there has been deposited in the Mechanics Savings Bank five dollars, Payable to the holder in confederate treasury notes with four percent interest after thirty days notice. The picture shows the actual Georgia obsolete money that is for sale at Brandywine General Store.
