Georgia Obsolete Currency CR-02 Fifty Dollar Treasury Note
SKU: GA 50.00 treasury 514
A fifty dollar Georgia obsolete treasury note issued at the beginning period of the Civil War in 1862 from Milledgeville. Governor Joseph Brown is in 2 oval portraits at the top center. The center vignette is Ceres standing with a stalk of corn and other bountiful produce at her feet. On each end is Justice holding her scales. Criswell lists this money as CR-02 which means there is a black treasury stamp at each end on the face. This note from the Confederate state of Georgia will grade fine but has bad ink burns at the signature on the left and the serial number. This has left large apertures in the paper. The picture shows the actual fifty dollar obsolete Georgia treasury note that is for sale at Brandywine General Store.
