A Museum Quality art print of Red Blueberries and Tall Spruce in Dolly Sods Wilderness Area in WV. The scene shows a bright red carpet of blueberry bushes decked out in their fall colors, these have some wild mountain laurel and rocks mixed throughout. In the background there is a stand of red spruce trees. On the right is a perfect example of the one sided red spruce trees that grows on Dolly Sods. The Dolly Sods Wilderness area is a high elevation plateau which is around 4,000 feet in height, making it the highest elevation plateau of its kind in the United States east of the Mississippi River. This is also a very harsh climate, sometimes during a bad winter the temps can get to 40 below zero and can have as much as 150 to 200 inches of snow through the winter season. Due to this harsh climate and the constant winds, the trees only grow branches on one side. The flat where this picture was taken, is filled with blueberry bushes which turn a scarlet red in color in the fall, also present are the wild mountain laurel, which are mixed throughout this plain as well as rhododendrons and some scrub oaks and spruce. A beautiful area no matter what the season, but not accessible during some winters.
