Alken, Henry Thomas - Duck Shooting Fine Art Print
A Museum Quality Print of Duck Shooting by Henry Thomas Alken. The artist painted this oil on canvas in the year 1825 with the original size being 10 by 12 inches and now resides at the Yale Center for British Art. The scene shows a British Duck Hunter with his shot gun aiming at ducks that he and the dogs have rushed out of the wetlands. The dogs are taking off to gather up the ducks as they fall to the ground. Another hunter and dog is visible in the far distance. Alken was an English painter and engraver mainly known as a caricaturist and illustrator of sporting subjects and coaching scenes. He lived from 1785 to 1851. We have another print by this artist called Grouse Shooting which makes an excellent companion print to this one. One hunter is shooting one way while in the other picture the hunter is shooting the opposite direction.
