1925 Stone Mountain Memorial Half Dollar
A 1925 Stone Mountain Memorial half dollar coin featuring Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson. The US mint produced around 1.3 million of these half dollars, the proceeds went to the expenses of carving figures of Confederate leaders and soldiers on Stone Mountain in Georgia. This coin was designed by Gutzon Broglum, who later sculpted Mount Rushmore. Stone Mountain in GA wasn't finished until 1970.
