This scenic landscape shows the full castle with the many turrets, the gardens and other buildings that make up the Smithsonian. The building is constructed of red sandstone from Seneca Creek. The architectural style is unique combining 12th Century Norman style with the Romanesque style. It was completed in 1855 and at the time was separated from the main part of DC by a canal.
