Panorama De Paris Hot Air Balloon Advertising Print

Brandywine General Store

$8.99

A Museum Quality Print of Panorama De Paris Hot Air Balloon Rides which were being advertised during the 1878 Worlds Fair in Paris, France for sale by Brandywine General Store. Our archival premium print of this lithograph shows the basket of Henri Giffard's captive balloon and a birds eye view of the city of Paris. This would have been a very exciting adventure for the fair goers as this was something new and dangerous. Very few people of this era had ever been up in the air as airplanes were about a quarter of a century away from being made into a reality. From what I can gather from the French in this poster, the volume of air in the balloon was 25,000 cubic meters, the diameter of the sphere was 36 meters, which was probably the basket in which people could ride and the balloon could reach an altitude of 500 to 600 meters. This would definitely have given people a view of Paris that none had ever seen before. Picture #05
