In it's hayday, Durbin was a timber town, due to the vast forests surrounding the area. Today it is perhaps best known for the Durbin Rocket, the steam-powered “Climax” locomotive that chugs alongside the Greenbrier River. This former timber-hauling locomotive, one of only three operating in the world today, hauls passengers thru the scenic beauty of the Allgeheny Highlands of Pocahontas county.
