An archival premium Quality Botanical Art Print of Cattleya Percivaliana Orchid by Fredrick Sanders for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artist painted the flower for his huge book on orchids entitled Reichenbachia. This pink salmon colored flower was in volume 1 being plate #2 and published in 1888. Cattleya percivaliana was discovered in 1881 by William Arnold, a collector for the firm of Sanders. The plants were found in the Venezuelan Andes. This orchid at first made a big sensation because at that time this was the only one to bloom at Christmas Time with intense blooms with extraordinary richness of color and having a unique scent smelling like spices, however the blooms are somewhat small. Cattleya percivaliana is primarily a Venezuelan species from the northwestern mountains although it has been reported from neighboring Colombia as well. The species is generally found between 1400 - 2000 meters but seems to be adaptable to lower elevations. Botanical art print #135
