SKU: 43 botanical

An archival premium Quality Botanical art Print of the Chinese Iris as it originally appeared in the Botanical Magazine in 1797 for sale by Brandywine General Store. The picture shows a root section that is cut off and ready for transplant, hanging over the root section is a large purple bloom and standing is a stalk with a bud. The Chinese Iris was described in this popular botanical journal as being introduced into England by a Mr. Evans of the India House, of where this iris is a native. It differs from all other known iris's in having a root of the creeping kind, sending out shoots a considerable distance, by which is it rendered to very easy propagation. On strong plants, the flowers are numerous and have a considerable degree of fragrance. Triandria Monogynia. Botanical art print #43
