An archival premium Quality art Print of the Benjamin Franklin Portrait by Joseph Siffrein Duplessis for sale by Brandywine General Store. This oil on canvas was completed by the French artist in 1785 and is now in the National Portrait Gallery in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC. Benjamin Franklin was the representative of the Revolutionary Government of the US to the French Court, France was out ally during the War with England. Franklin was already well known as a writer, scientist and businessman when he arrived in France in December 1776. Franklin was a huge success during his mission to France. The early owner of this portrait was Madame Brillon de Jouy, who was Franklin's neighbor in Passy, France and one of his favorite women in the country. He maintained a flirtatious relationship with this woman throughout his stay in France.
