Curtis describes this flower thus "Grows spontaneously in Italy and Siberia with blossoms that are naturally white with red in the middle. The single rose campion has long been an inhabitant of the English Gardens, where, by its seeds having scattered it has become a kind of a weed. There are three varieties of this plant, one with deep red, another that is flesh colored and a third with white flowers, but the double rose campion is held in the highest esteem and has turned the other varieties out of most of the better English Gardens. They will flower in July and August. Agrostemma Coronaria. Botanical art print #82
