The Nevada quarter shows a trio of wild mustangs playing with a bright sun coming up over snow capped mountains. Sagebrush borders the sides of the coin, while the banner with the nickname The Silver State is at the bottom and 1864 at the top. The state got its nickname in part due to the discovery of one of the greatest mineral discoveries ever found in the US, later named The Comstock Lode. The state is home to half of the Nation's wild horse population.
