An archival premium Quality art Print of Young Omahaw, War Eagle, Little Missouri and Pawnees by Charles Bird King for sale by Brandywine General Store. The Oil on canvas was painted by the artist in 1821 with the original work of art now hanging in the Smithsonian American Art Museum. In this painting, King used an 18th century tradition of using multiple portraits to describe his Indian subjects. It is not known for sure, but the portraits are probably based on the likenesses of two Pawnee Chiefs, Petalesharro, Chief of the Pawnee Loups and Peskelechaco, Chief of the Republican Pawnees. King painted both these men when they traveled to Washington with a tribal delegation. King in the new world enlightenment, painted these men as Roman nobility, to be admired for physical prowess as well as reason. Wild West art print #16
