Snyders, Frans - A Game Stall Art Print
An archival premium Quality Art Print of A Game Stall by Frans Snyders for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artist finished this work sometime during the years 1625 to 1635 with the original size being 39 by 98 inches. This oil on canvas now resides at the York Art Gallery. This stall was either a market or belonged to the King, as this was a king's feast in this larder. The scullion is in the left corner, he has probably come down to get this large peacock for the feast for the nights festivities. Some of the animals on this table are a small deer that has been gutted and hung, a swan, a wild boar that has already been butchered with the meat in tubs and his head on the table, pheasants, rabbits, small colorful birds that are on a string, chickens and many other exotic large and small birds and animals. Amazingly there are two live black spotted roosters under the table hiding for their lives, a cat has joined them in hiding. A couple dogs are in this larder, looking for scraps, they probably know better than to try to eat the game that is ready for the people. All of this game would have to soon be eaten or put away or it would all soon spoil. Old Masters art print #42
